first_imgThe University of Florida Department of Orthopaedics andRehabilitation is currently recruiting a full-time academic handsurgeon at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor orProfessor on non-tenure accruing track. Responsibilities willinclude primary patient care and teaching activities withopportunities for research participation within the Hand and UpperExtremity Division.The Hand and Upper Extremity Division consists of 5 fellowshiptrained hand surgeons and two fellowship trained shoulder and elbowsurgeons. We have 4 Physician Assistants that work full time withthe Division. The Division also educates two hand (upper extremityfellows) and one shoulder and elbow fellow annually. A Chiefresident and Junior Resident are on service at all times.Research support includes 2 clinical coordinators, a bio skillslab, a motion analysis lab, a biomechanics lab and a very activegene therapy program. Opportunities for collaborating with physicaltherapy, engineering and the veterinarian medicine are currentlyactive.The main hand clinic is located in a modern 4 story building withphysical therapy, hand therapy, MRI, CT, fluoroscopy as well asx-ray present. Immediately adjacent to this building is theoutpatient surgery center. In patient surgery is performed in themodern wing of Shands hospital which is a level 1 traumacenter.Interested applicants must possess an MD/DO degree, successfullycompleted a residency in orthopaedics, plastic surgery or generalsurgery, have completed a minimum of one year fellowship in handsurgery and be board certified or board eligible. Qualifiedcandidates should have demonstrated a serious ongoing commitment toacademics including publications and teaching.
