For over one hundred years, the Chicago Cubs have not been able to win a World Series championship. The team has been competing against the Cleveland Indians in the World Series this year, marking their first time playing in baseball’s final series in over 70 years. Still, in true heartbreaking Cubs fashion, the team lost two games at their home Wrigley Field, which is why they needed some help in the third and final Wrigley game. Now, we’re not saying that Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder magically changed the outcome of a baseball game, but the Cubs won last night and Vedder sang “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” during the 7th inning stretch – two things that happened for the first time this World Series. Also, the Cubs put their last pitcher in during the top of the 7th, and he stayed and pitched through to the end of the 9th. Coincidence? Maybe…Watch Vedder, the die-hard Cubs fan, leading Chicago in the baseball classic, “Take Me Out To The Ballgame,” below.Perhaps it’s also worth mentioning that Phish played at Wrigley Field for the first time this year too…Game six of the World Series is set for tomorrow, November 1st, but will take place back in Cleveland. Can Chicago pull it out, or will Cleveland keep their curse alive? We’ll have to wait and see.
