FUFA Awards: Final five nominees for Male, Female award confirmed

(PHOTO/File)The Federation of Uganda Football Association has confirmed the final list of nominees for both the Female and Male player of the year 2019.The Male list initially comprised of 16 individuals but it is now down to just five with two of them KCCA FC players, the side that won the 2018/19 Uganda Premier League.Final five Male Player of the year nominees-Allan Okello (KCCA FC)-Mustafah Kizza (KCCA FC)-Allan Kayiwa (Tooro United FC/Vipers SC)-Shafik Kagimu (URA FC)-Bright Anukani (Proline FC)KCCA FC duo of Kizza and Okello won the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, the FUFA Super Cup, and the CECAFA Kagame Cup and were part of the Cranes team that qualified for the 2020 Championship of African Nations (CHAN).Kagimu and Kayiwa had a good run in the league at URA FC and Tooro United FC respectively and the two were part of the Cranes team that qualified for CHAN.As well, Bright Anukani guided Proline FC to the first-ever qualification to the CAF Confederation Cup after putting a good performance that led to the winning of Stanbic Uganda Cup Trophy. He was also named MVP in StarTimes FUFA Big League.The Female list initially comprised of 12 players but has also been trimmed to five.Final five Female Player of the year nominees-Daisy Nakaziro (Lady Doves FC)-Fauzia Najjemba (Kampala Queens FC)-Hasifa Nassuna (UCU Lady Cardinals FC)-Juliet Nalukenge (Kawempe Moslem FC)-Shadia Nankya (UCU Lady Cardinals FC)Nalukenge captained Uganda U17 Girls’ national team to winning the COSAFA Championship and she emerged top scorer with 18 goals. She helped Kawempe Muslim to win both the national and East Africa Secondary Schools championship.Najjembe, a student at Mukono High School who moved from Isra Soccer Academy to Kampala Queens recently was part of the Uganda U17 Girls’ national team that won the COSAFA Championship scoring 12 goals.She was joint to scorer in the FUFA Women Elite League (regular season) scoring 14 goals. Three Donegal graduates selected for Bord Bia Talent Academy

first_imgThree Donegal natives have been selected as part of the Bord Bia Talent Academy and will do a masters with UCD Smurfit business school while also completing 23 months’ industry placement.Cliona Regan from Mountcharles, Darragh Boyd from Raphoe and Conor Quinn from Buncrana are three of 69 new recruits joining Bord Bia’s Talent Academy.It is Bord Bia’s largest-ever investment in talent acquisition for the Irish food and drink industry, in its 25-year history. The Talent Academy features four programmes run in conjunction with UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and gives students the opportunity to gain professional food and drink industry experience while undertaking a Masters programme with UCD.Michael Murphy, Industry Talent Director at Bord Bia commented: “Investing in talent is a key priority for Bord Bia and through our talent programmes we are ensuring that we attract the best people into the food and drink industry.“The new recruits, who underwent a rigorous selection process, come from a range of academic and professional backgrounds and bring a variety of skills and aptitudes to their respective roles.“They can expect a hothouse environment over the next weeks and months; a place where their talent will be nurtured in order to drive the success and growth of the Irish food and drink industry.” Boyd will be based in the UK as a Bord Bia Marketing Fellow, working on behalf of Irish food and drink companies wishing to grow and defend Irish exports to the UK.In total 19 graduates join the Fellowship programme with placements across the globe including Mexico, Vietnam, Tokyo, Dubai, New York, Stockholm and the UK.Regan (based in Dublin) is one of 32 International Graduates who will work directly with Bord Bia, placed in one of Bord Bia’s network of 14 offices worldwide.Ten recruits will be placed overseas with multinational food and beverage organisations as Origin Green Ambassadors working to implement the principles of the Origin Green programme into their sustainability plans.Quinn is one of eight recruits to the Retail and Foodservice Account Management programme, who will work with major UK retailers to secure business for Irish suppliers.
